Contemporary Sculpture Commissions and Restoration in the UK and Overseas
Working in any variety of materials to clients wishes, for any commission or purpose, private or public works undertaken, sculpted pieces d’art, design or architectural works are welcome both nationally or international .
With over 35yrs wide knowledge & experience of movements, styles themes, classical work to post classical or modern to avant-garde and of course representational work.
Besides the sculpture commissions and restoration studio we have in depth knowledge on the technical side with a forge & foundry for non ferrous casting & stone carving or manufacturing in synthetic materials, glass fibre, plaster, etc. all works are made and finished within the studio & foundry, other than very large public sculpture restoration commissions.
Moulding methods and techniques are imperative to achieve originality and quality, thus all these are done in the workshop.
Studio History:
Studio first formerly known “Alexander Studio’s started in Wimbledon (1972) with freelance commissions in London. Moved to South Africa new studio was formed with private commissions for JCI & Anglo-American, First National Bank, design companies, etc, many works exhibited in JHB, Cape Province and Sold.
In 1991 moved to Prague where restoration work continued till 1999 more new works began & Commissioned in Moscow. In 2004 works finally started back in England (Yorkshire) in 2007 the Studio became a limited company as Aleksandr Studios ltd.
Sculptor & Artist:
Alexander Michal Sasin.
Born in Jablonec nad nissou CZ 1947. My Father Michal was a former Ukrainian army captain during the war years, Mother Doris Kay was from Preston, Lancashire.
In 1956 my family lived in Knightsbridge/Kensington as protected refugees, my father‘s last years working as a jewellery designer in London, I would help rolling out copper wire, those early years not speaking English I found it easier to communicate with pictures, at the age of 10 came 2nd in under 11s London art competition.
- First worked as a Trainee Artist Designer under Mr Arkinsall (head sculptor at Pedigree dolls & Triange toys) Studied art at Hammersmith Art college.
- Worked Freelance in London for private Art studios
- Influenced with African culture & Art I was commissioned by Ango-Americn
- Sculpturing African bronze mining figures and Equestrian and wildlife sculpture.
- In 1991 lived in Prague became member professional Czech sculptors affiliated UNESCO, worked on building restorations of Neo-Rocco facades & restoration of old statues, then took over large former Barrandov studio and continued private sculpture restoration commissions, eventually culminating in many works done in Moscow.
- Now living in Yorkshire undertaking commissions and exhibiting my work.
- I live for my work as an Artist my sculpture restoration & Art works are testimony to many years of dedication & love of art.
